The Governor of Himachal Pradesh called for urgent measures to safeguard the region’s cultural legacy and natural environment.

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh addressed a gathering of officials and community leaders, stressing the need to preserve the state’s rich cultural heritage alongside its fragile ecosystems. He highlighted that historic temples, traditional art forms and indigenous practices are integral to the identity of Himachal and must be protected for future generations.
He warned that unplanned construction, tourism pressure and climate‑related challenges are eroding both tangible and intangible heritage. The Governor urged the state administration to integrate heritage conservation into development plans and to enforce stricter environmental regulations.
The speech called on civil society, NGOs and local residents to collaborate in restoration projects, promote eco‑friendly tourism and adopt sustainable livelihoods. He announced that a task force will be set up to monitor heritage sites and recommend actionable steps.
Finally, the Governor appealed for public awareness campaigns to foster pride in Himachal’s cultural and natural assets, emphasizing that preservation is a shared responsibility.
