Intense monsoon rains flooded a village in Madhya Pradesh, turning it into an island. Villagers used a traditional doli to bring a woman to safety as water levels rose.
Heavy monsoon showers over the past 24 hours have inundated a remote village in Madhya Pradesh, submerging roads and fields and effectively isolating the settlement as an island. Local authorities reported that water levels rose to several feet, cutting off vehicular access and forcing residents to rely on makeshift means for movement.
Amid the rising waters, a group of relatives carried a woman in a traditional doli (palanquin) to higher ground. The rescue was conducted manually as boats were unavailable and the floodwaters made conventional transport impossible. No injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the incident.
District officials have dispatched rescue teams and are monitoring the situation closely. They have urged villagers to stay indoors, avoid wading through floodwater, and cooperate with relief efforts. The flood is attributed to unusually heavy rainfall in the region, which has also affected nearby hamlets.
The state disaster management department has activated emergency protocols and is coordinating with the National Disaster Response Force to provide additional support if the water levels continue to rise. Residents are being advised to keep essential supplies handy and to follow official advisories.
