The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and widespread rainfall across Himachal Pradesh, with Kangra district experiencing heavy rain.
Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh was pelted by heavy rain on Tuesday, prompting local residents to seek shelter and report waterlogging in low‑lying areas. The downpour arrived shortly after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an advisory for the region.
The IMD forecast calls for thunderstorms accompanied by widespread rainfall across the state throughout the day. Meteorologists noted that the system is likely to intensify as it moves over the hilly terrain, increasing the risk of localized flooding and reduced visibility.
Authorities have urged people to avoid non‑essential travel, especially on mountain roads, and to stay updated with weather bulletins. Emergency services remain on standby to respond to any incidents caused by the sudden downpour.
