Heavy Rain Halts Train Services to Mizoram, Repairs Underway

Continuous downpours have forced suspension of rail services heading to Mizoram, with crews working to restore tracks.
Heavy rainfall across the northeastern region has disrupted railway operations bound for Mizoram, prompting Indian Railways to suspend several passenger and freight services until the tracks are cleared. The deluge caused waterlogging on key sections of the line, making it unsafe for trains to run.
Repair teams from the North East Frontier Railway have been deployed to the affected zones, working round the clock to pump out water, clear debris and inspect the track integrity. Officials said that the work is progressing and aim to resume normal services within the next 48 hours, subject to weather conditions.
Passengers stranded at major junctions were advised to seek alternative transport, such as state-run buses, while the railway authority issued safety advisories and promised compensation for those facing inconvenience.
