Heavy Rain Forces School Closure Across Vellore District, Tamil Nadu

The Vellore district administration issued a notice on Monday declaring a one‑day holiday for every school in the district as heavy rain battered the region. The decision, taken by the district education officer, aims to safeguard students and staff from the hazardous conditions on the roads and around school premises.

Local authorities reported that several areas in Vellore experienced continuous downpours, leading to waterlogging on many streets. Transport services were disrupted, and the risk of accidents was deemed high, prompting officials to suspend regular school operations.

Parents were advised to keep children at home until the weather improves. The education department will reassess the situation tomorrow and announce the reopening schedule based on the forecast and ground conditions.
