A sudden bout of heavy rain and thunderstorms swept Delhi NCR, leading to waterlogging at several points in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad.

A sudden spell of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms moved across Delhi-NCR on Monday, bringing intense downpours that lasted for several hours. Meteorological reports indicated that the system intensified as it entered the region, resulting in rapid accumulation of water on roads and low‑lying areas.

The deluge caused waterlogging at multiple locations, notably in central Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad. Commuters faced significant traffic snarls as major arterial roads and flyovers were submerged, prompting authorities to divert traffic and suspend some public transport services.

Delhi’s municipal corporations and the Delhi Police issued advisories urging residents to avoid non‑essential travel and to exercise caution while navigating flooded streets. Crews were deployed to clear water from critical junctions and to assist stranded motorists.

The India Meteorological Department warned that the weather pattern could persist into the next 24 hours, recommending that citizens stay updated with local alerts and take preventive measures against potential damage.
