The Union Health Ministry announced the launch of the ‘Golden Goal’ project, a targeted program designed to lower fatalities from road accidents across India.

New Delhi – The Union Health Ministry unveiled the ‘Golden Goal’ project, a nationwide effort to reduce the number of deaths caused by road accidents. The initiative, announced today, aims to address the high fatality rate that has long plagued India’s highways and urban streets.
The programme will focus on strengthening emergency medical response, improving post‑crash care, and enhancing public awareness about road safety measures. It also plans to collaborate with state health departments, traffic police and hospitals to create a coordinated network for rapid victim assistance.
Implementation is slated to begin in the coming months, with pilot phases in selected high‑risk districts. Officials expect the coordinated approach to cut road‑related fatalities by a significant margin within the first year of operation.
The health ministry emphasized that reducing accident deaths requires a multi‑sectoral strategy, and the ‘Golden Goal’ project represents its commitment to saving lives through better preparedness and response mechanisms.
