The Delhi High Court has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau to register a first‑information report against officials of the State Bank of India over an alleged ₹40 lakh bribe.

The Delhi High Court issued a directive on Wednesday ordering the Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB) to file a first‑information report (FIR) against certain officials of the State Bank of India (SBI). The order stems from a complaint alleging that the SBI officers accepted a bribe amounting to roughly ₹40 lakh in exchange for favouring a private entity.

The court noted that the allegations merit a formal criminal investigation and instructed the ACB to complete the FIR filing without undue delay. It also asked the investigating agency to keep the court apprised of the progress of the case.

SBI has not commented publicly on the matter, and the ACB has indicated that it will proceed with the investigation in accordance with the court's instructions. The case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption within public‑sector banks and the role of law‑enforcement agencies in addressing such claims.

The High Court’s order underscores the judiciary’s willingness to intervene when allegations of financial misconduct surface, aiming to ensure that due process is followed and any wrongdoing is duly prosecuted.
