The Haryana government has announced a subsidy scheme aimed at encouraging modern sugarcane cultivation for the 2026-27 season.
The state government of Haryana has rolled out a new subsidy programme targeting farmers who adopt modern techniques in sugarcane cultivation. The scheme, which will be operational from the 2026-27 agricultural year, offers financial assistance to cover costs of high‑yield seed varieties, advanced irrigation systems and mechanised harvesting equipment. Officials say the initiative is designed to increase productivity, reduce input costs and improve the overall profitability of the sugarcane sector in the state.
The subsidy will be disbursed through the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, with eligibility criteria based on landholding size and the adoption of certified modern practices. Farmers who meet the conditions can receive a grant that covers a significant portion of the investment required for the new technology.
Agricultural experts predict that the scheme could boost Haryana’s sugarcane output by up to 15% over the next few years, helping the state remain a key player in India’s sugar industry. The government has also pledged to provide training and extension services to ensure farmers can effectively implement the new methods.
