The state bought more than 15.5 lakh tonnes of paddy and has already paid Rs 1,221 crore to the growers, according to the Economic Times.

Haryana's agriculture department announced that paddy procurement for the current season has crossed 15.52 lakh tonnes. The figure reflects the total quantity purchased from farmers under the state's procurement programme.

The government has disbursed Rs 1,221 crore to the participating cultivators, ensuring timely cash flow and supporting farm incomes. The payments were made through the usual electronic transfer mechanisms to avoid delays.

State officials said the robust procurement numbers indicate a healthy monsoon and good crop yields across the major paddy‑growing districts. They also highlighted that the continued implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) safeguards farmer earnings.

The department plans to maintain procurement levels through the remainder of the marketing season, aiming to stabilize market prices and prevent post‑harvest distress.

Analysts view the substantial outlay as a positive signal for the agricultural sector, reinforcing Haryana's role as a key grain‑producing state in northern India.
