The Haryana electricity board has instructed a residential complex in Gurgaon to issue separate invoices for power consumption and upkeep services, citing regulatory compliance.

The Haryana State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (HSEDCL) sent a notice to the management of a condominium in Gurgaon, directing that electricity charges and maintenance fees be billed separately. The directive comes after the utility observed that the complex was combining the two charges in a single invoice, which the board says violates state electricity billing norms and hampers transparent cost allocation for residents. HSEDCL has asked the condo’s managing committee to implement separate metering or accounting mechanisms within 30 days, and warned that non‑compliance could lead to penalties or disconnection of supply. Residents are expected to receive distinct bills for electricity usage and for common‑area upkeep, allowing them to track consumption and service costs more accurately. The move reflects a broader push by state regulators to streamline utility billing and ensure that consumers are not overcharged for services unrelated to electricity.
