The Haryana Police Department has revealed that it intends to recruit 20,000 officers in 2027 to address a 26% vacancy rate that currently hampers the state’s law‑enforcement capacity.
Chief Police Officer, the Director General of Police (DGP), stated that the recruitment drive will be phased and will cover all ranks, from constables to senior supervisory posts. The announcement comes after a review of staffing levels highlighted a significant gap between the required and available personnel.
The recruitment plan includes a mix of direct hiring and promotion of existing personnel, with a focus on strengthening rural policing and improving response times. The state government has earmarked funds for training and infrastructure to support the expanded force.
