Veteran batter Harmanpreet Kaur announced her resignation as captain of the Indian women's cricket team, ending her stint at the helm.
In a brief statement released earlier this week, senior cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur confirmed that she is stepping down as captain of the India women's national cricket team. The announcement marks the conclusion of her tenure leading the side in international competitions.
Kaur, a mainstay of the batting order, said the decision was taken after careful consideration of the team's future direction and her own role within it. She expressed gratitude to teammates, support staff and fans for their unwavering backing throughout her leadership period.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to announce her successor, but officials indicated that a smooth transition will be ensured to maintain continuity ahead of upcoming series and tournaments.
Cricket analysts noted that Kaur's experience will remain valuable to the squad, even as she returns to focus solely on her batting responsibilities. The women's team will now look to regroup under new leadership as they prepare for forthcoming international fixtures.
