Gutters Overflow After One Hour of Rain in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, Punjab – After roughly an hour of continuous rain, the city's drainage gutters could not cope with the volume of water and began to overflow. The sudden surge of water filled low‑lying areas and caused noticeable pooling on several arterial roads.

Motorists reported slowed traffic and temporary standstills as water accumulated near intersections and market zones. Pedestrians also faced difficulty navigating sidewalks that were submerged in a few centimeters of water.

Municipal officials confirmed that the overflow was a result of the short but intense rainfall, noting that the drainage system is designed for longer, less intense showers. They have deployed additional pumps and instructed residents to avoid driving through water‑logged sections until the situation improves.
