Gujarat Schools Must Get Principal’s Approval for Outsiders

The Gujarat government has declared that schools must obtain principal’s consent before allowing outsiders to enter school premises, a move that comes amid a political controversy.

The Gujarat state education department has issued a directive that all schools are required to secure the principal’s approval before permitting any outsider to enter school premises. The decision, announced earlier this week, aims to tighten oversight and ensure safety within educational institutions.

Under the new rule, teachers and staff must submit a written request to the principal for any visitor, including parents, community members, or external contractors. The principal’s consent will be recorded in the school’s visitor log.

The directive follows a political row that erupted after several schools reported unauthorized visits by external parties. While the government has not disclosed the specific incidents, the policy is seen as a response to concerns raised by parents and local leaders.

Education officials say the measure will help maintain a secure learning environment and streamline visitor management. Schools are expected to comply with the new requirement by the end of the month.
