Voters in Gujarat will head to the polls on Sunday for the Gandhinagar municipal corporation election and simultaneous assembly contests in the coastal towns of Okha and Thara.
The state Election Commission has scheduled voting for Sunday across three constituencies in Gujarat. In the capital district, residents of Gandhinagar will cast ballots to elect members of the municipal corporation, a body that oversees local civic services and infrastructure.
At the same time, the coastal towns of Okha and Thara will hold elections for their respective seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Both constituencies are considered strategically important for the ruling party ahead of the upcoming state assembly term.
Election officials have deployed additional security personnel and electronic voting machines to ensure a smooth process. Voter turnout is expected to be high, reflecting the electorate's keen interest in local governance issues ranging from water supply to urban development.
The results, expected to be declared within 48 hours, will shape the political landscape in the region and could influence party strategies for the next state-wide elections.
