The Gujarat state government has approved cash awards exceeding Rs 9.27 crore for 18 athletes who won medals at the Asian Games and Para Asian Games.
Gujarat's sports department disclosed that the state will disburse more than Rs 9.27 crore to eighteen athletes who secured medals at the recent Asian Games and Para Asian Games. The financial package is being provided as a one‑time reward for their performances on the continental stage.
The awards are part of the government's broader scheme to encourage sporting excellence and to recognize athletes who bring national pride. Each recipient will receive a cash amount determined by the medal category, with the total pool shared among the eighteen sportspersons.
Officials said the distribution will take place in a formal ceremony later this month, where the athletes will be presented with the cheques and a citation. The move is expected to motivate emerging talent across Gujarat and reinforce the state's commitment to supporting high‑performance sport.
