A group of physicians in Gujarat announced a collective pledge to invest in emerging healthcare startups, aiming to foster innovation in the sector.

A consortium of medical professionals based in Gujarat has publicly pledged to allocate financial resources toward early‑stage healthcare startups. The doctors say the initiative is intended to bridge the gap between clinical expertise and entrepreneurial ventures, thereby accelerating the development of affordable medical technologies and services.

The pledge will be channeled through a structured fund that will evaluate proposals on criteria such as clinical impact, scalability and alignment with public health priorities. Participants expect to work closely with existing incubators and venture‑capital networks to provide mentorship as well as capital.

While specific monetary figures were not disclosed, the doctors emphasized that the collective effort reflects a growing trend of healthcare practitioners taking an active role in the startup ecosystem. They hope the move will inspire similar collaborations across other Indian states.

The announcement was made during a press briefing organized by the Gujarat Medical Association, which also highlighted the state's supportive policies for innovation in health care.

Stakeholders, including potential startup founders and investors, have been invited to submit business plans for consideration in the coming weeks.
