Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) has announced it is seeking a joint‑venture partner to set up a green ammonia production facility in the state.

GSFC, a major fertilizer and chemicals producer in Gujarat, disclosed its intention to collaborate with an investor or technology partner to develop a green ammonia plant that uses renewable energy.
The project aims to produce ammonia with near‑zero carbon emissions, aligning with India's push for clean‑fuel alternatives and the government's emphasis on green hydrogen and ammonia for export and domestic use.
GSFC said the plant will be located in Gujarat, though the exact site has not been finalised, and it expects the partnership to bring in capital, technology and expertise required for large‑scale low‑carbon ammonia production.
Industry analysts note that such a venture could diversify GSFC's product portfolio beyond traditional fertilizers, potentially opening new revenue streams in the emerging green energy market.
The company has invited expressions of interest and plans to evaluate proposals in the coming weeks, with a view to commence construction if a suitable partner is identified.
