The Ministry of Commerce has announced that it will shoulder the high certification expenses for micro and small exporters as part of the Export Promotion Scheme.

The Ministry of Commerce, led by Minister Piyush Goyal, has revealed a new initiative to support micro and small exporters. Under the Export Promotion Scheme (EPM), the government will now cover the costs associated with obtaining necessary certifications, which have traditionally been a barrier for small businesses.
The move aims to reduce the financial burden on exporters, enabling them to access international markets more easily. Certification costs, which include fees for quality, safety, and compliance checks, can be significant for small enterprises.
By absorbing these expenses, the government hopes to stimulate export growth among the micro and small sector, which constitutes a large portion of India’s export base. The policy is expected to boost competitiveness and encourage more firms to pursue overseas opportunities.
Implementation of the scheme will begin in the upcoming fiscal quarter, with detailed guidelines to be released by the Ministry of Commerce. Exporters will be required to apply through the designated portals to claim the subsidy.
