Government Schools Introduce AI Basics from 6th Grade
From the 6th standard, government schools will teach fundamental artificial intelligence concepts to nurture technical skills early.
The education department announced that, starting this academic year, government schools will integrate basic artificial intelligence (AI) lessons into the curriculum for students from the 6th grade onward.
The initiative aims to develop technical proficiency among children at an early age and aligns with broader national efforts to build a digitally skilled workforce.
The AI modules will cover fundamental concepts such as machine learning, data handling and problem‑solving, using age‑appropriate teaching aids and practical exercises.
Teachers will receive specialized training and schools will be provided with the necessary resources to implement the new content across classrooms.
Officials said early exposure to AI will better prepare students for future academic and career opportunities in emerging technology sectors.
