Gangster Sachin Thapan, detained in Ajmer’s high‑security prison, was transferred to JLN Hospital after his health worsened during an 18‑day hunger strike.
Gangster Sachin Thapan, who is serving a sentence in the high‑security jail at Ajmer, Rajasthan, was moved to JLN Hospital on medical grounds. The transfer took place after prison officials reported a marked decline in his health.
Thapan had been on a self‑imposed hunger strike for approximately 18 days, refusing food as a form of protest. During this period, his condition deteriorated, prompting the jail authorities to seek urgent medical attention.
The prison’s medical team, working under tight security protocols, assessed his vitals and recommended immediate hospitalization. He was admitted to the hospital’s isolation ward, where he continues to receive treatment while remaining under guard.
Jail officials declined to comment on the reasons behind the hunger strike, stating only that the inmate’s welfare is being closely monitored and that all necessary security measures are in place during his hospital stay.
