The Ganga has surged to a danger level in Unnao district, prompting authorities to issue warnings and prepare for potential flooding.
The Ganga has risen to a danger level in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, according to the latest river gauge readings. The water level has crossed the critical threshold, raising concerns about possible flooding in nearby villages and low-lying areas.
Local officials have issued a warning to residents in the flood-prone zones and have mobilised emergency response teams. The district administration has also set up temporary shelters for people who may need to evacuate.
The Central Water Commission has urged the public to stay alert and follow instructions from the authorities. It has also requested additional support from the state government to reinforce embankments and conduct rescue operations if required.
Experts say that the monsoon rains have been intense across the region, contributing to the rapid rise in the river’s level. Residents are advised to avoid crossing the river and to seek higher ground if they are in danger.
