Ganga Floods Submerge Villages in Bihar’s Raghopur, Opposition Blames Government

The rising level of the Ganga River has flooded a cluster of villages in the Raghopur block of Bihar, cutting off road access and forcing residents onto higher ground. Local authorities have deployed rescue teams and relief material, but the water continues to rise, deepening the crisis.

Opposition leaders gathered in Patna to condemn the state government's handling of the situation, alleging that early warnings were ignored and relief measures were delayed. They called for an immediate assessment of flood‑prone areas and a more robust evacuation plan.

State officials, while acknowledging the severity of the inundation, said they are coordinating with the National Disaster Management Authority to mobilise additional resources. The flood has disrupted daily life, with schools closed and markets shut as water levels remain high.

The situation remains fluid, and officials have urged residents to stay alert, avoid wading through floodwaters, and follow instructions from local disaster management teams.
