Ganga and Punpun Floods Swamp Patna Neighborhoods, Disrupt Roads and Rail Traffic

Heavy floods from the Ganga and Punpun rivers have inundated several Patna localities up to waist level, causing waterlogging at ghats and halting road and rail movement.
The Ganga and its tributary Punpun have risen beyond their banks, sending floodwaters across Patna and reaching as far as the Diyar area. Residents of several neighborhoods reported waist‑deep water, forcing many families to relocate temporarily to higher ground.
Ghats along the riverfront are submerged, and the standing water has made vehicular movement on major thoroughfares impossible. Authorities have suspended regular road services, and commuters are facing long delays as detours are set up.
Rail operations in and around Patna have also been affected, with several local and long‑distance trains either delayed or cancelled until the water recedes. Emergency teams are on standby, monitoring the situation and assisting affected residents.
Local officials have urged citizens to avoid non‑essential travel, stay away from flood‑prone zones, and follow safety advisories issued by the disaster management cell.
