A first‑generation learner from Jharkhand’s coal belt has secured a Chevening Scholarship to pursue higher studies at the University of Sussex, UK.
A student hailing from the coal‑rich belt of Jharkhand, whose parents belong to a non‑academic background, has been selected for the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. The scholarship, funded by the UK government, will enable the scholar to enroll in a postgraduate programme at the University of Sussex.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the learner, who is the first in his family to attain a degree abroad. It also highlights the growing outreach of Chevening in India's remote and industrial regions.
University officials confirmed the scholar’s admission and noted that the programme will focus on subjects that align with the student's academic interests, further strengthening Indo‑UK educational ties.
