A former Devadasi's grandson has emerged as a powerful advocate, championing the rights of thousands of marginalized individuals.

A man who traces his lineage to a Devadasi, a traditional temple dancer often subjected to social stigma, has stepped forward as a prominent voice for thousands of marginalized people across India.

The Devadasi tradition, once revered, has largely been abandoned, leaving many former devotees in poverty and discrimination. The grandson, who grew up witnessing the hardships faced by his family, has turned personal experience into a platform for change.

He has founded a grassroots organization that provides legal aid, education, and livelihood training to former Devadasi families and other vulnerable groups. Through public campaigns and collaborations with NGOs, he has highlighted issues such as bonded labor, lack of access to healthcare, and gender-based violence.

Since launching the initiative, the organization has assisted more than 3,000 individuals, helping them secure employment, obtain legal documentation, and access government welfare schemes. His efforts have drawn national attention, prompting policymakers to consider reforms aimed at protecting the rights of historically marginalized communities.
