A sudden snowfall has blanketed Kedarnath, disrupting access to the famed temple and prompting authorities to issue travel advisories.
Fresh snowfall has blanketed Kedarnath, a pilgrimage town in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, overnight. The snow covered the town and surrounding hills, creating a picturesque but challenging scene for visitors.
The sudden accumulation has disrupted travel to the Kedarnath Temple, a major Hindu shrine. Local authorities have advised pilgrims to exercise caution and check road conditions before attempting the trek.
The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather advisory, urging residents and visitors to stay indoors if possible. Rescue teams are on standby to assist stranded travelers.
Weather experts say the snowfall is part of a broader cold spell affecting the Himalayan region, with temperatures dropping below freezing in many areas.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will update travelers as conditions evolve.
