Amritsar rural police uncovered two illegal arms and drug supply networks, arresting four suspects and confiscating an M16 rifle, pistols and ammunition.
Amritsar’s rural police launched a coordinated operation that targeted two separate networks involved in the illicit trafficking of firearms and narcotics. The raid, carried out in the outskirts of the city, resulted in the seizure of a cache of weapons and related materials.
Among the items recovered were an M16 assault rifle, several pistols and a substantial quantity of cartridges, indicating a well‑armed supply chain. Authorities also confiscated quantities of narcotic substances that were being moved through the same channels.
Four individuals suspected of facilitating the smuggling activities were taken into custody. The police have opened a formal investigation to trace the origin of the weapons and to dismantle any further links in the network.
The operation underscores the ongoing challenge of curbing illegal arms and drug trade in Punjab, and officials have pledged to intensify surveillance and enforcement measures in the region.
