The Sodha family, once linked to Pakistan’s political establishment, have moved back to their ancestral village in Rajasthan and taken up roles in the local panchayat.

The Sodha clan, whose members were long associated with Pakistan’s corridors of power, have completed a cross‑border relocation to their native region in India. After years of residence in Pakistan, the family travelled to Rajasthan, the state from which their lineage originates. Their arrival was marked by a low‑key ceremony in the village that hosts the local panchayat.

In the days following their return, the Sodhas have been formally inducted into the village panchayat, the grassroots democratic body that oversees local administration. Their participation is being recorded as a routine inclusion of residents, with no special privileges granted beyond those accorded to any elected or nominated member.

Observers note that the move underscores personal ties to homeland rather than any political maneuvering. While the family’s past connections to Pakistani politics attracted media attention, officials in Rajasthan have emphasized that the Sodhas will now engage in ordinary civic duties alongside their neighbours.
