Police detained former Ajmer women’s prison superintendent Divya Chaudhary on Oct 6 at a residential flat in Kota, Rajasthan.
Police officials in Rajasthan arrested Divya Chaudhary, who was serving as the superintendent of the Ajmer women’s prison, on October 6. The arrest took place at a private flat in Kota, where she was reportedly staying.
According to the investigation, Chaudhary had allegedly facilitated the removal of two female inmates from the Ajmer jail and arranged for cleaning work at a private residence, actions that prompted a probe by the state police. The authorities said the operation appeared to be an abuse of her official position.
Rajasthan police have not disclosed further details about the charges, but they confirmed that the case is being treated as a serious breach of prison protocol. The department’s senior officials are reviewing the incident to determine any systemic lapses.
The arrest underscores heightened scrutiny of prison administration in the state following recent allegations of misconduct. Officials have pledged a thorough inquiry to ensure accountability within the correctional system.
