The Food Safety Department raided a desi ghee factory in Kalash Nagar, Ludhiana, destroying 675 kilograms of expired ghee.

On Tuesday, the Food Safety Department conducted a raid on a desi ghee manufacturing unit located in Kalash Nagar, Ludhiana. Inspectors seized 675 kilograms of ghee that had surpassed its expiry date and destroyed the stock on the spot.

The raid was part of a broader effort to enforce food safety regulations and prevent the distribution of sub‑standard dairy products. Officials noted that the expired ghee had been stored in conditions that could compromise consumer health.

The Food Safety Department spokesperson confirmed that the seized goods would be destroyed to eliminate any risk to public health. No other violations were reported during the inspection.

The incident underscores the authorities’ commitment to maintaining food safety standards across Punjab’s dairy industry.
