Five of the six lifts at JP Hospital in Bhopal have been out of order for months, leaving pregnant women, post‑surgery patients and critical cases struggling to reach their wards.
JP Hospital in Bhopal is currently operating with only one functional lift out of a total of six. The remaining five elevators have been non‑operational for several months, according to a report by Amar Ujala.
Three of the disabled lifts are located near the obstetrics ward and have been out of service for approximately six months. This has created serious mobility challenges for pregnant women who need to be moved quickly between the delivery suite and other parts of the hospital.
The lift outage also hampers the transfer of patients recovering from surgery and those in critical condition, who rely on elevators to reach intensive‑care units and other specialist wards. Hospital officials have not provided a timeline for repairs, leaving patients and their families concerned about safety and timely care.
