Police in Haryana have taken into custody five individuals linked to a private news channel, among them the managing director, an anchor and two journalists, according to reports.
Haryana police have arrested five persons associated with a private news channel, including the channel's managing director, a news anchor and two journalists, officials said. The arrests were carried out in the state on Wednesday, though the exact location within Haryana has not been disclosed.
Authorities have not released details about the specific charges, but the police statement indicated that the detentions are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged violations of broadcasting regulations. The individuals were taken into custody and are being held for questioning.
The private channel has not issued an official comment on the arrests, and spokespersons for the detained journalists declined to speak to the media. Legal experts note that such actions could have broader implications for media operations in the region, but emphasized that the case must be judged on the evidence presented.
The incident adds to a series of recent law‑enforcement actions targeting media personnel across India, highlighting the sensitive balance between regulatory compliance and press freedom.
Further updates are expected as the investigation proceeds and the court reviews the case.
