A multi‑storey building in the Satya Niketan area of Delhi collapsed, prompting a massive rescue operation that lasted nearly 27 hours. The tragedy claimed the lives of seven individuals, five of whom were students of Delhi University, according to officials.
Post‑mortem examinations were conducted at AIIMS, where the identities of all the deceased have now been confirmed. Five people were rescued with injuries; three of them are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving intensive care.
Delhi police and municipal authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, focusing on possible structural deficiencies and maintenance lapses. Rescue teams, including fire services and medical staff, continued to provide assistance to the injured while the site remains cordoned off for forensic examination.
