Five dead as heavy rains swell Uttarakhand rivers, trigger landslides on highways

Heavy rainstorms swept across Uttarakhand, causing several rivers to burst their banks. The sudden rise in water levels swept away vegetation and destabilised slopes along the highways. As a result, large boulders rolled down onto the road network, crushing vehicles and trapping commuters. The incident left five people dead, according to local reports. Rescue and relief teams have been mobilised to clear the debris and assist any injured survivors, while authorities continue to monitor river levels for further flooding.
