Five inmates convicted in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case have been granted a 60‑day parole, allowing them temporary release under strict conditions.
The High Court of Tamil Nadu has granted a 60‑day parole to five prisoners convicted in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case.
The inmates, who were sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in the blast that killed 13 people, will be released under strict supervision and are required to report daily to a police station.
The court cited the inmates’ good behaviour and the passage of time as reasons for the parole, noting that it is a rare concession in a case involving terrorism.
Authorities will monitor the parolees closely, and any violation of the conditions could lead to immediate revocation of the release.
