Police in Punjab's Firozpur have detained a woman on suspicion of passing defence information to Pakistan, and two soldiers have also been named in the case.
Police in Firozpur, Punjab, have taken a woman into custody on accusations of conveying military intelligence to Pakistan. The arrest was made following a preliminary investigation that linked the suspect to the alleged transfer of defence-related data across the border.
Authorities allege that the woman acted as an intermediary, facilitating the flow of sensitive information to foreign intelligence agencies. The nature of the material purportedly shared has not been disclosed, but the charge underscores concerns over espionage activities targeting India's defence establishment.
In addition to the woman's detention, the investigation has identified two serving soldiers who are also named in the case. Their involvement suggests a possible breach within the armed forces, prompting a broader inquiry by military and civilian law‑enforcement agencies.
The case remains under active investigation, with officials indicating that further arrests may follow if additional evidence emerges. No court proceedings have commenced, and the accused have not made any public statements.
