A cooking contest that prohibited open flames was organized in Mohali to mark World Food Day.

Mohali hosted a special cooking competition on World Food Day, October 16, that explicitly banned the use of open fire. The event was reported by Amar Ujala and attracted local participants keen to showcase culinary skills without traditional flames.

Contestants prepared a variety of dishes employing alternative heat sources such as electric stoves, induction cookers and solar ovens. Judges evaluated the meals on taste, creativity and adherence to the fire‑free rule.

Organizers highlighted the competition as a platform to promote safer cooking practices and to raise awareness about innovative food preparation methods in line with the global celebration of food security and nutrition.
