A bus from Jhalawar heading to Khatushyamji caught fire near its rear wheel on NH‑52 close to Deverighata on Saturday morning, but the driver’s swift action averted a major mishap.

The Rajasthan Roadways bus that departed from the Jhalawar depot at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday was traveling on National Highway‑52 towards Khatushyamji when a fire ignited near its rear wheel close to Deverighata.

At the time of the incident the vehicle was carrying more than eleven passengers. Witnesses reported seeing flames and smoke emanating from the wheel area, prompting immediate alarm among the occupants.

According to the driver, he quickly applied the brakes and moved the bus to the shoulder, allowing passengers to evacuate safely while the fire was contained. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and local fire services arrived promptly to extinguish the blaze.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and the bus has been taken to a nearby depot for a thorough inspection. The incident underscores the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and driver vigilance on Indian highways.
