Ferrari orders in India more than double as EU‑India FTA looms

Anticipation of the pending EU‑India free‑trade pact has spurred Indian buyers to place orders for Ferrari cars, pushing the total to over twice the previous level.

Indian demand for Ferrari’s high‑performance cars has surged, with the manufacturer reporting that orders have more than doubled compared with the same period last year, according to The Hindu.

The spike comes as the Indian market watches the negotiations for a free‑trade agreement between the European Union and India. Analysts expect the pact to slash import duties on luxury goods, including premium automobiles, making them comparatively cheaper for affluent Indian consumers.

Dealers of Ferrari in India said the prospect of lower tariffs has prompted several prospective buyers to lock in purchases now, anticipating future price advantages. They added that the brand’s limited‑edition models are especially popular among collectors looking to benefit from any duty reductions.

While the order book is swelling, actual deliveries will hinge on the final terms of the EU‑India FTA and Ferrari’s production schedule, both of which remain subject to further negotiations and supply‑chain considerations.
