The Food and Drug Administration carried out 274 inspections across Jammu & Kashmir, seizing 213 food samples ahead of the upcoming festive period.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a series of inspections across Jammu & Kashmir as the region prepares for the festive season. A total of 274 outlets, ranging from street vendors to larger retail stores, were examined for compliance with food safety standards.

During these checks, FDA officials collected 213 food samples for laboratory analysis to verify the absence of contaminants and ensure that products meet prescribed quality norms. The sampling exercise is part of the agency's routine pre‑festival surveillance aimed at preventing food‑borne illnesses.

Authorities said the operation underscores the administration's commitment to safeguarding public health during periods of heightened consumption. Results of the laboratory tests will be released in due course, and any violations will be addressed according to existing regulations.
