The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FDA) reported that its teams conducted a total of 140 inspections across various districts of Jammu & Kashmir during the latest surveillance round. The inspections targeted a range of food outlets, including retail shops, restaurants, and wholesale markets, to verify compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act.
As part of the operation, FDA officials collected 55 food samples for laboratory analysis. The samples are being tested for parameters such as pesticide residues, microbial contamination, and adulteration, in line with the agency's standard protocols.
The authority has not disclosed any specific violations yet, but the sampling is intended to ensure that food products reaching consumers meet safety standards. Results of the tests will be communicated to the concerned businesses and, if necessary, appropriate enforcement actions will be taken.
