Ramshiromani Mishra, whose wife and newborn died at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa, has asked for euthanasia while awaiting the magistrate's investigation report.
Rewa, Madhya Pradesh – The father of a mother‑child pair who died at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital has formally requested euthanasia, saying the justice system has failed to provide closure. Ramshiromani Mishra, whose wife and newborn succumbed to complications at the hospital, lodged the demand while the magistrate’s inquiry is pending.
Mishra began a 15‑day hunger strike, termed an "आमरण अनशन," to press for a swift investigation and accountability. The protest concluded when the magistrate’s probe entered its final phase, with the stipulated time frame for the inquiry now exhausted.
The magistrate’s investigation, initiated after the deaths, has completed its prescribed timeline, and the findings are awaited by Mishra and his legal counsel. He maintains that the lack of definitive answers compels him to seek a form of legal mercy.
Authorities have not yet commented on the euthanasia request, stating that any decision will depend on the forthcoming investigation report and applicable legal provisions.
