Farmers block Ambala‑Chandigarh highway at Lalru over power supply issue

On Tuesday morning a farmer union halted traffic on the Ambala‑Chandigarh highway at Lalru, protesting the lack of electricity supply.
A farmer union named Bhakiyu Ekta Ugaraha Derabassi set up a blockade on the Ambala‑Chandigarh highway in front of the electricity board's XEN office at Lalru on Tuesday morning. The protest caused a full stoppage of traffic along the busy corridor.
The demonstrators expressed anger over the continued failure to provide reliable electricity to the area, a grievance that has been building among local agricultural communities. The union warned that the lack of power hampers irrigation and other farm activities.
