A sudden engine fire on a passenger boat in Oankarshwar's river was contained after the boatman transferred passengers to another vessel, preventing any casualties.
Earlier this week, a passenger boat navigating the river at Oankarshwar experienced an unexpected fire in its engine compartment. The blaze erupted while the vessel was crowded with commuters traveling across the water.
The boat's operator, noticing the flames, immediately ordered the passengers to disembark onto a nearby boat that was moored alongside. Within minutes, all travelers were safely transferred, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Following the incident, the Oankarshwar Municipal Council seized the damaged engine and directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess compliance with safety regulations.
Local authorities have urged boat owners to conduct regular maintenance checks and to ensure that fire‑extinguishing equipment is readily available on all passenger vessels operating in the area.
