The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will be streamed for free on Amazon Prime Video, ending the show’s long‑standing partnership with broadcast networks.
The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, traditionally broadcast on cable and network television, will now be streamed for free on Amazon Prime Video. The change marks the end of a decades‑long partnership with broadcast networks and reflects a broader shift toward streaming platforms for major awards shows.
Under the new agreement, viewers can watch the ceremony live on Amazon Prime Video without a subscription fee, making the event more accessible to a wider audience. The move also includes a digital‑first strategy, with highlights and exclusive behind‑the‑scenes content available on the platform.
Industry analysts say the decision could set a precedent for other award shows, as streaming services continue to compete for live viewership. The Emmy Awards’ move to Amazon is seen as a response to changing viewing habits, especially among younger audiences who prefer on‑demand and streaming options.
While the change has been welcomed by many fans for its accessibility, some critics worry about the loss of traditional broadcast revenue and the potential impact on the ceremony’s reach among households without streaming services.
