Musk again called Mukesh Ambani the ‘real boss’ while promoting Starlink’s upcoming services in India.
Elon Musk, chief executive of SpaceX and Tesla, publicly referred to Indian telecom magnate Mukesh Ambani as the “real boss” during recent remarks about Starlink’s push in India. The comment was made as the satellite‑internet venture seeks to expand its footprint in the country.
Musk’s jab comes at a time when SpaceX is pursuing regulatory clearances and partnership talks to launch commercial broadband services, positioning Starlink against entrenched players such as Reliance Jio.
Industry analysts say the remark highlights the intensifying competition in India’s digital market, while the government has yet to finalize spectrum allocation for Starlink. The company continues field trials and ongoing discussions with local authorities.
Both Musk and Ambani have been vocal about India’s digital infrastructure; Ambani’s Reliance Jio already dominates mobile broadband. Their rivalry could influence future policy decisions and investment flows in the sector.
