The Election Commission announced steps to restore voter registration after warnings that protests could affect upcoming polls.
The Election Commission of India has issued a directive to address concerns that planned protests could disrupt the forthcoming elections.
The panel said it will review and restore the names of voters who were removed from electoral rolls, aiming to ensure that eligible citizens are not disenfranchised as tensions rise.
Officials stressed that the measure is intended to safeguard the integrity of the voting process, urging protest organizers to keep peace while the commission continues to monitor the situation closely.
