The Election Commission of India has started a nationwide campaign aimed at registering every eligible citizen on the electoral roll, seeking to eliminate omissions.
New Delhi – The Election Commission of India (ECI) rolled out a proactive outreach programme across the country to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll. The initiative involves door‑to‑door verification, mobile registration units and intensified use of digital platforms to capture missing entries.
Commission officials said the drive will focus on hard‑to‑reach areas, senior citizens, migrants and first‑time voters who may have been omitted during previous enrolments. Trained staff will assist citizens in completing the Form‑6 application and verifying identity documents on the spot.
The ECI has set a target to update the roll ahead of the upcoming general elections, emphasizing that a complete and accurate voter list is essential for a free and fair democratic process. The campaign will run for the next three months, with periodic progress reports to be released publicly.
